Wayne Wiseman

Since graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981, Wayne Wiseman has maintained a successful and active practice handling a cross section of civil litigation, commercial and transactional matters, regulatory matters, and criminal defense trials and appeals. He was both the founding and managing partner of a highly successful Park Avenue law firm for twenty-two years, from 1987 until 2009. Wayne continues to serve as a faculty member of the National Institute of Trial Attorneys Trial Advocacy Skills Program at Georgetown University Law Center.

Wayne’s legal career began with employment as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, where he tried in excess of 30 jury trials to verdict, with a 97% conviction rate. Since leaving the District Attorney’s Office, he has built upon this trial experience by trying in excess of 100 cases to verdict in both the Federal and State court systems, covering  a diverse range of subjects that included employment matters on behalf of both employers and employees, prosecuted and defended personal injury and medical malpractice cases, defended workers’ compensation cases, and defended clients against prosecution at the Federal and State levels. Finally, Wayne draws on his B.B.A. in accounting, economics and finance, along with his experience as a public accountant with a former “Big Eight” certified public accounting firm to advise clients on sensitive and complex financial matters, involving everything from corporate matters and structuring transactions to complex multi-million dollar forfeiture proceedings.

Wayne’s Approach:

As a client, retaining the services of a highly effective and experienced trial attorney puts your adversary on notice to take you and your case seriously, whether your issue involves monetary redress or exposure to criminal prosecution.

Wayne always levels with clients from the outset, regarding whether they face an uphill battle or, conversely, by providing the needed insight and strategy necessary to take a more aggressive position with a view toward litigation. Because he has won the great majority of the cases he has tried, Wayne offers a forceful, creative and, when called for, unorthodox strategy rather than the safe, pro forma advice that lawyers are too often inclined to provide in order to avoid trial and the prospect of failure. He always respects the opinion of the client and will do everything he can to fulfill your desires and needs—even when there is an honest disagreement regarding the best approach to your case.  Wayne personalizes his representation to reflect how individual the choice of an attorney can be, and just how important the issues are to the client—whether it involves an interpersonal issue or a business transaction. Years of experience have taught him just how important it is to listen and understand the needs of the client first. As your attorney, Wayne Wiseman will strive to fully understand your needs and goals in the context of your case and provide a result that meets your objectives.

Of Wayne Wiseman, one client said he is: “amazing, talented, and truly cares,” while another described him as “professional and informative with a refreshing approach.”  After a lengthy trial, a business owner client said: “Wayne is a masterful trial attorney.  The judge hung on his every word.  I felt privileged to be represented by Wayne and the whole team.”

In his spare time, Wayne is an avid golfer, skier and investor.
