In which situations might I need a Maryland employment law attorney?

You have just been fired. You are angry. Your former boss was dismissive, curt and impolite during the meeting about termination of your employment. It can make a person wonder if this is a situation in which you might need a Maryland employment law attorney.

Before that can be determined, you should run through a checklist: do you have an employment contract that described and limited the circumstances under which you could be fired? Was your employment terminated because of your gender, race, religion, age, disability or other protected class classification?

If it appears to you that you were fired because you are part of a protected class, or you were dismissed in violation of terms of your employment contract, you should contact a Maryland employment attorney.

At Thatcher Law Firm, we are dedicated to protecting the rights and interests of metro Washington clients who were wrongfully fired, discriminated against in the workplace, who have suffered retaliatory discharge from their jobs, been denied Family Medical Leave Act rights or have otherwise had their employment rights violated under state or federal law.

Our goal is to understand your situation – your work, your employer, the circumstances of your claim and the evidence – and then help you understand your available legal options. In that way, you can make informed decisions throughout the process.

In some cases, an attorney can negotiate terms of a favorable agreement with an employer. In other cases, an employer is intractable and compels the client and attorney to take the claims to trial. In those situations and others, we strive always to protect you.
