New Military and Veteran Legal Resource Guide

On Behalf of | Aug 7, 2017 | Employment Law |

The Virginia Office of Attorney General released a new resource to assist our nations’ servicemembers and military families. The Resources can be accessed here, and includes sections covering servicemembers and veterans rights with regard to employment, education, taxes, consumer issues, and family law.

Servicemembers and veterans are entitled to specific employment law protections under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Employers may not discriminate against or take negative employment actions against military servicemembers and former servicemembers because of their military service. Military members are protected against retaliation from employers for asserting their rights under USERRA.

Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herrin’s new guide provides a detailed overview of the various servicemembers’ legal protections, and addresses the different legal issues that can impact our military members and veterans.
